Everybody loves a before and after. I have been working on this one for ages. It has been a really personal process to create the perfect environment that feels just right for us. The cream and beige that was left over from the last owners felt like we were sleeping in someone else’s house so it’s one of the first rooms we’ve decorated since we moved in.
Here’s a quick project that can spruce up a beige lampshade. I made this because I was sick of looking at two beige lampshades on my vintage dressing table. I’m not a huge fan of beige. In our brightly coloured boho bedroom, they looked like the square neighbours had turned up to ask us to keep the noise down.
Every time I put up images of our house on Instagram, I trigger a chorus of questions about having dark walls. So here are some secrets of the dark side, revealed.
My goth phase started in 1995 when I discovered Nick Cave, but about five years ago it spilled over onto my walls.
How are we all going on our new year’s resolutions? Great? Smashing it? Totally failing?! Yep That’s me.
Every year I have a resolution to drink more water. Every year I fail. I just forget. I have too many things to remember to also get up seven times during the day to refill my glass.
The evenings have drawn in and the weather is showing us all kinds of damp and grey, winter isn’t coming, it’s already here!
At this time of year I have to force myself outside and only then, when truly necessary. I love a lazy lay-about and cosy time at home, but it can be so easily sapped by social media, devices and a general continuation of the hectic ways of day-to-day life.
