HAPPY HOUR – CAMPARI AND BLOOD ORANGE

Blood oranges are in season (for a little while longer). The sun’s out. It’s a no brainer: Campari and orange time.

The crimson juice of blood oranges always feels a bit fancier; and go for freshly squeezed – it’s always worth the effort. Add ice if you like, but if you don’t want diluted juice, and more importantly, booze, chill your fruit first.

The usual formula is three parts juice to one part Campari, but a swishy mixologist once told me that the perfect amount of Campari to splash into your tumbler of OJ is 45ml. It’s half a shot more than I’d usually dare, but it goes down surprisingly easily…
