18 Sep HAPPY HOUR – SLOE GIN AND CITRUS FIZZ
So back when it was freezing cold and we were feeling festive here at Ladyland, I made a batch of spiced sloe gin. Since this ruby red booze is made from berries that are traditionally picked after the first frost of winter, it’s considered a bit of a Christmassy treat – and that batch of homemade sloe gin made a lot of people feel very merry indeed.
Miraculously, I still have a few more precious drops of the good stuff – and of course, you can buy bloody good sloe gin whenever it takes your fancy…
So, my summery take on the tipple? Take the bittersweet loveliness of sloe gin and add a zesty hit of citrus. Erm, basically I like it with posh lemon squash.
Pack a highball glass with ice
Pour in a generous splosh of sloe gin
Top it up with San Pellegrino Limonata
Sip it in the sunshine
If you’ve made your own sloe gin, go on and add a few booze-infused berries or even the cinnamon. Swizzle stick!
