HOW TO BREAK UP WITH YOUR WINTER COAT

There was a point, a few weeks back, when we very nearly packed away our trusty wool mix, knee-length coats into storage (read: crushed into Ikea vacuum bags under bed), but then the cruel British weather revoked its temporary heatwave and our trusty winter stalwarts lived to see another day. Until now that it is. Because who else has had a hissy fit in the last month when trying to leave the house only to find that, well, your outfit just feels all kinds of wrong for the hazy sunshine and blossom-strewn pavements? It’s all about your outerwear. With temperatures steadily on the up, now is the perfect moment to invest in a spring appropriate coat, or should that be jacket? It must be light, but still warm enough to quell those 8am chills, preferably resilient to a light shower and in a suitably springlike fabric or shade (or navy, well Clem is French). But most of all it must have the power to transform the rest of your wardrobe, like only the best coat can. Unless you want another hissy fit, that is. Here’s what us Ladylanders will be wearing:

Marghe had forgotten how much she likes stripes until she saw this little blazer. Now she wonders how she’s lived without it.

Clem has been seriously thinking about editing her wardrobe but as per usual, instead of chucking things out, she is already planning new purchases, starting with this trench!

Emma is pretending she’s a member of First Aid Kit with this fringed jacket.

Bella continues her quest for the perfect classic beige mac with this version from Finery. Note the springy white dress, lace ups and bare legs which stop it getting too Inspector Gadget-y.

Now that Selina’s living in a tropical city, she’s dreaming of days cool enough to drape herself in this shrimp pink number

Celia is loving the Miami badge and the OTT flamingos that make this silky bomber jacket her new obsession.
